Keeping your trade or construction site electrically save is important. Accidents happen and the best you can do is take all preemptive measures to eliminate electrical failures that could be prevented by early detection. Testing your appliances with ApplianceCheck NZ on a regular cycle is a key step towards achieving this goal. The following information should cover all important aspects regarding electrical safety for the trade and building industry and will help you start the testing process.

Testing Cycles

Most trade and building appliances fall under categories which require testing every 3 to 6 months (i.e. drills, grinders, welders, lights, extension cords). Appliances in construction and demolition are subject to mandatory 3 month checks - eg all power tools - drills, saws, extension cords. Other appliances (i.e. lamps, heaters, refridgerators) in administration facilities require annual testing. Computers are classified as low risk appliances and only require inspection every 5 years.
